Join Us For Another Week of WE RISE 2020: Virtual May

We’ve seen some powerful performances, workshops and panels at the start of Mental Health Awareness Month—and we will continue to rise together!

  • Monday (12 PM) – Start your week with the InsideOUT Writers for a 60-minute writing workshop with Dee Davis.
  • Tuesday (12 PM) – Join Matthew Diep & Alyssa Bernal of Psypher to learn some fun and easy dance exercises to help you cope with stress.
  • Wednesday (6 PM) – Join actress DeWanda Wise and three local Angelenos who live with mental illness as they talk about mental health, managing through collective stress and what it means to build a community where mental health is possible for all. This panel is hosted by NAMI Greater Los Angeles County.
  • Miércoles (8 PM) – Únase a la locutora Caro Márquez y tres miembros de la comunidad Latinx que viven con enfermedad mental mientras hablan sobre la salud mental, el manejo del estrés en estos tiempos, y lo que significa construir comunidad donde la salud mental es posible para todos. Este panel está alojado por NAMI Greater Los Angeles County.
  • Thursday – Watch an intimate fireside chat with former Lakers player Metta World Peace, as he shares his story of trauma, purpose and healing in conversation with Christina Pascucci of KTLA.
     
  • Thursday (12 PM) – Incorporating simple journaling exercises into our routines has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety (or improve our emotional health), and help us feel more connected and resilient during difficult days. In this workshop, dig into the power of journaling, walk through some evidence-based journaling exercises and explore ways to share stories to help others.
     
  • Friday (3 PM) – Let’s dance to un poquito of a variety of social dance forms: Salsa, Cumbia, Merengüe, Quebradita and more! So come ready to move your hips and corazones. Hosted by Dancing Diaspora Collective.
